Another Planet

All photos were taken in cape Opuk and Koyashskoye salt lake, located on the Black Sea coast of the Kerch Peninsula in Crimea. Koyashskoye salt lake is 4 kilometers long, 2 kilometers wide and a meter deep. It separated from the Black Sea by a thin strip of land. The beautiful water in the lake has the particularity to change color, depending on the light, time of day, season, due to the presence of microscopic pink-colored algae living in the water. When the water evaporates, the salt in the lake crystallizes on the stones and the shores, producing crystal stones and the scent of the viola.

In this place you can feel like on another planet. The series of photos was taken during the summer of 2020, at different times of the day. The uniqueness of the lake is that it always looks different. When you are in this place, you want to absorb all the impossible beauty of this unusual place and it seems that time has stopped and nothing is important in this world except this unity with Nature. And you can enjoy the peace and beauty of pristine nature. I love my native land very much and I want to share its beauty with you. We must understand the pricelessness of our nature and do everything to save it.

I am particularly interested in landscape photography. As a landscape photographer, I'm looking for stillness, vastness, the sublime, and sometimes also a touch of surrealism.

The series "Another Planet" was awarded a Honorable Mention in the 2021 ND Awards, Official Selection in category Nature at TIFA 2021 and Nomination in Landscape category at 8th Fine Art Photography Awards 2022.

The series was published in L'Œil de la Photographie magazine.

Artworks from this series were shown at the exhibition at the Nu Art Gallery in Kyiv and at the Praxis Gallery in USA in 2021.
